Please NOTE: There is a misprint in the most recent Genesis Pediatrics newsletter in the section that talks about the new HPV9 (Gardasil) vaccine.
At this time, there are no specific HPV9 dosing recommendations for those patients (both males and females) who have started OR have received the entire 3 dose series of the previous HPV4 vaccine. However, because the new vaccine protects against an additional 5 serotypes of the virus, we anticipate that the new recommendations will encourage both males and females to receive it. We are anxiously awaiting this information from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the CDC, as well as affirmation that insurance companies will cover these new recommendations.
