Miralax is Safe to Use

There have been several studies showing that Miralax is safe to use in children including a current, ongoing study started in 2015 at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. This study has not resulted in concerning new data or new side effects thus far. Last week there was another article re-addressing the concerns raised in 2015 over possible side effects from Miralax, none of which have been substantiated by evidence. We would like to reassure you that the providers at Genesis Pediatrics are keeping up to date with current research about Miralax and will continue to do so to ensure that we are providing the safest and most up to date medical care. Below is an article written by Dr. Steve Hodges, author of It’s No Accident, that we have found very helpful. Additionally, there is a resource written by the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at gikids.org discussing the use and safety of Miralax.

As always, feel free to call the office with any questions.
