IMPORTANT INFORMATION about the upcoming Flu season:
The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has advised AGAINST the use of FluMist, the intranasal live attenuated influenza vaccine, for this upcoming 2016-2017 flu season. This recommendation is following an analysis that showed the poor efficacy of this type of flu vaccine during the past three flu seasons.
Based on this recommendation, Genesis Pediatrics will only be offering the injectable flu vaccine for the upcoming flu season. The intranasal FluMist was NOT ordered. The health and safety of our patients and their families is our top priority at GP, and therefore we will not offer a product that has been studied to be ineffective. It is recommended that all children ages 6 months and older receive the injectable flu vaccine.
