It’s that time of year when you may be receiving notification from the school nurse stating that your child is “missing” specific vaccines for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

They may ask you to verify these with your Pediatric office.

This step is actually not necessary!

All school nurses should have access to NYSIIS (New York State Immunization Information System) which is a confidential, secure, web-based system that maintains one consolidated immunization record for persons of all ages in New York State.  This means that any and all vaccines that your child has received (or missing) will be listed on NYSIIS, and the school nurse can access this system to verify your child’s current vaccine record.
